I provide a sex-positive, non-judgmental approach to sex therapy that centers your comfort, well-being and personal goals
Sex therapy is a specialized form of talk therapy that helps you navigate the obstacles that are keeping you from the ideal sexual or relational satisfaction you desire. I’m trained in a variety of interventions so that I’m able to tailor my approach to every client based on your unique needs.
The work begins with creating a safe and warm environment, which I do by focusing on building our relationship with the trust and safety. I use listening, empathy and laughter to create this safe and vulnerable space. I honor your unique experiences and I trust your expertise in your own life. My role in this journey will be to safely guide your curiosity, concerns and sexual exploration, while empowering you to take charge of this process. You and I will be a team in collaborating on your goals and how to reach them.
I’m here to empower you to explore and understand your sexual experiences from a place of self-compassion, curiosity, and openness. Whether you're looking to address specific concerns or simply deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships, our focus will be to cultivate fulfilling relationships and sexual connections, while nurturing personal emotional, mental and physical well-being.
HOW SEX THERAPY WORKS
FAQs
-
Sex therapy does NOT involve physical contact.
-
Sex is just one part of your life—and I want to understand the full picture in order to best support you. Our work together begins with a standard intake appointment where we’ll discuss what’s bringing you into therapy, your family of origin and upbringing, as well as your mental health history. This helps us get to know you in a thoughtful, holistic manner.
We’ll then have a separate session focused on your sexual history. This is a safe space to explore your experiences, feelings, values and concerns around sex in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Together, we’ll develop sexual goals for your time in therapy. From there, we’ll begin meeting for standard sessions at a pace that feels comfortable to you and works with your schedule.
-
Not at all. A lot of the work of sex therapy is about understanding yourself more fully– your body, your identity, your traumas and conditioning, and what you value most . Whether you’re interested in exploring your gender or sexual identity (i.e polyamory, bisexuality, asexuality, etc.), navigating concerns like pain or sexual dysfunction, or simply wanting to feel more confident and connected in your own body, sex therapy can support you. I also help people in developing and maintaining fulfilling sexual relationships in the future.
-
Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. I also offer extended sessions in some cases, such as for intakes, EMDR therapy, family sessions, couples and polycule sessions and during times of heightened need. If I feel that a different length would best suit your needs for any reason, we’ll discuss this together to figure out what works best for you.
